At Operation Groundswell we realize that although our program fee is extremely low and despite participants consistently telling us that they receive more value than they pay for, the cost may still be prohibitively high for some people.
We believe our programs offer something unique that everyone, no matter their economic background or situation, should have access to. An important first step to take is to approach your school and other networks about the program you wish to partake in, as many institutions offer bursaries and allowances for volunteer-travel programs. If they require any other information or official documentation, please feel free to get in touch with us, as we’re here to help you get the resources you need.
We understand that, in some cases, people may not necessarily have access to the networks or institutions that can help them secure the finances for the program, and in the case that all avenues have been exhausted, we have committed ourselves to providing a limited number of small financial needs bursaries for those who experience financial barriers.
So, if this applies to you, apply normally, then write us a brief letter explaining your financial situation, and making sure to highlight what other steps you have taken to help alleviate the burden (i.e. planned fundraising efforts or approaching your university for funds). Then mail your letter to:

If you have been approved for a bursary (confirmation is sent through email), you can pay your bursary-subsidized final payment through PayPal by clicking on the button below. The bursary brings the payment value down to $1,499. With PayPal fees, the amount charged, if you opt to pay through PayPal, is $1,544.08.
