17 Apr Winners of the 2013-2014 Alumni Project Fund Announced!
Operation Groundswell’s Alumni Project Fund exists to support our alumni in their efforts to create a lasting positive impact on the communities they’ve grown to call their second homes. We’ve said it numerous times before and we’ll say it again…this year’s batch of Alumni Project Fund proposals were of the highest calibre we’ve ever received here at Operation Groundswell! Needless to say, that made it all the more difficult to select this year’s grant winners.
After much deliberation, our Project Fund Committee has selected this year’s grant winners and we are proud to announce our support for four organizations working to improve access to healthcare, create economic opportunities, and empower women!
Alumni Project Fund Grant Winners*
- Femme International’s Feminine Health Management Program: $10,000
- Ubuntu Blocks Project: $10,000
- Primary Healthcare Clinic with Rise Up Development Collective: $6,542.45

“The entire Project Fund Committee was blown away. The focus on sustainability, innovation and solidarity was adhered to in a way that brought out the best ideas to the forefront,” says Jonah Brotman, OG’s Co-Founder and Project Fund Committee member. We hope that the Project Fund continues to develop in this direction in future years!
Congratulations to all the grant winners and many thanks to all our alumni who submitted exceptional proposals! We are proud of our growing community of backpacktivists who are continuing to engage across borders for genuine cross-cultural dialogue and collaboration!
