Akwaaba

Greetings from Kumasi, the jewel of the Ashanti crown! We’ve had quite a time scouting out a place to stay in Accra and have thoroughly enjoyed getting more familiar with Kumasi these past few days. Today we met with the head of Sinapi Aba Trust, Ghana’s largest microfinance organization and they’re excited to be giving us a tour of their facilities when the group comes in June. Other than that we’ve spent most of our time getting used to being 2 of the few ubrunis in the area, trying (with occasional success) to navigate the always impressive Kejetia Market and getting settled at the Guestline Lodge. Tomorrow, we’re heading North to Bolgatanga and by Wednesday we are stoked to be seeing Sandema, our home for over 3 weeks, for the first time! Our next update should come in from Ouagadougou, the gloriously named capital of Burkina Faso, and it’ll be great to re-explore one of West Africa’s lesser known, yet stunningly beautiful countries. Our numbers while we are in Ghana are +233.54.803.0052 and +233.54.803.0053, and we will update you when we get to Burkina Faso on our number there. Just over 3 weeks till OGWAD 2010 begins, and we couldn’t be more excited! -Lauren and Andy
